How long will I have to load and unload the container before you pick it up?
Answer: Normally we would like the container dropped off and picked up within 2 days. If there are circumstances that differ we can arrange to work around your needs.
If I don’t find a house straight away, can my goods stay in the container until I find a house?
Answer: We have storage facilities available. Ask your You Move manager for associated costs involved with storage.
Can I take my plants?
Answer: Yes, although you should
contact the Department of Agriculture in the State to which
you are moving first because there are some restrictions on
the movement of plants and soil into some States. You should
also consider that (a) plants take up a lot of room (you can’t
load over the top of a plant, (b) soil and moisture from the
plant might cause damage to other items within the load, and
(c) your plants will be locked inside a dark dry container
for the duration of the transportation and will be subject
to the temperature inside the container which, in a hot climate,
will be hotter than the outside temperature. Plants do tend
to hibernate in dark places though and often travel very well
so long as they do not dry out.
Do I need insurance?
Answer: That is a decision
for you. You should remember that there is significantly more
risk to your possessions while they are in transit compared
to while they are in your home. The cost of insurance during
transit is therefore higher. We recommend that you contact
your insurer to discuss your particular needs and options.
