FAQ: Premium Service

Is it necessary for me to complete the inventory sheet?

Answer: No, although we do recommend it. The volume calculation that you get from your completed inventory sheet will give you a very good guide to what size and/or how many containers you will need to accommodate your goods. It will also provide a very good record of your goods for insurance purposes in the event of an accident.

When I complete the inventory sheet, how do I record an item of my furniture that is larger or smaller than average?

Answer: Pick another item of furniture in your home that is about the same size as the item that concerns you. Then change the average size of the item you want to record to the size of the item that you have picked. The same applies to items that you possess that are not listed on the inventory sheet. Feel free to change the room titles, item descriptions and average volumes as you wish. You can, and should, add to or alter our inventory sheet to suit your needs. If necessary you can record your furniture on more than one sheet. Remember, the inventory sheet is yours to adapt and use as you wish.

How accurate will my estimation of the volume of my household effects be?

Answer: It should be very accurate. Errors in calculating volumes most commonly occur because people do not allow for enough cartons. It is therefore easier to calculate your volume after you have packed most of your cartons. Always try to be reasonable when you are deciding if something is ‘average’ in size. Remember to list everything. Don’t forget to include those items that are stored in your roof, under your house, in your neighbour’s or relative’s garage or in the self storage unit.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any other questions or concerns.
